Abstracted Portraiture:

“Perception”

“As I branched out within my practice, I wanted to create a piece that bridged abstraction and portraiture together, using the similar water color style I had adapted for portraits.

With a 33X40 Sheet of cold-press watercolor paper, I worked from image references of myself to mirror my reflection twice on the substrate. I outlined these portraits with varying arrays of pen weights, making one side blue hues and the other side red hues. I finished the piece with a third portrait that is only color blocking with no firm line.”
